Natural Play Space
Natural play spaces are "playgrounds" like elements of parks or school yards that are uniquely positioned to address many of the challenges associated with increasing obesity, loss of social capital, and fewer connections to nature. Natural play spaces are reemerging as a method for engaging children and adults to improve health through physical activity and provide opportunities less structured free play with natural materials in outdoor environments. They provide opportunities for people to spend time in nature for active and imaginative play as well as reflection and renewal. PCPH provides technical assistance in community organizing and NPS design, implementation and evaluation.
